Abstract: Collective under the direction of Shigehisa Kuriyama, Ota de Leonardis, Carlos Sonnenschein and Ibrahima Thioub This book brings together on the Covid-19 pandemic the contributions of one hundred and twenty-seven researchers and artists, working in thirty-eight countries on five continents. Their collaboration was made possible by the Institute for Advanced Studies of Nantes. Each year academics from all over the world freely pursue their research there, within an interdisciplinary working community that confronts them with the diversity of experiences and ways of thinking. The group of former residents forms a veritable global research college, and this book illustrates an original angle of analysis in grasping the multiple dimensions of this unprecedented health crisis. We discover the various ways in which human societies approach their relationship to time, disease, life and death. The experience of the pandemic is studied from many points of view, such as criticism of the dominant economic rationality and the inequalities accentuated by the health crisis, or the normative architecture of societies, considered in the light of public freedoms, the social responsibility of states and their failure. Edited by Shigehisa Kuriyama, Ota de Leonardis, Carlos Sonnenschein and Ibrahima Thioub.
